DITA VON TEESE'S BEAUTY SECRETS

Dita Von Teese is the 'Goddess of Burlesque' and she put burlesque to a new level.  Burlesque is a literary, dramatic or musical work intended to cause laughter by caricaturing the manner or spirit of serious works, or by ludicrous treatment of their subjects.  Burlesque is derives from the Italian word 'burleseo', which in turn is from the Italian 'burla', which means a joke, redicule or mochery.

According to The Los Angeles Times, "the 'Burlesque's Goddess' attention to detail and embellished glitz on stage is unparalleled, even for pops stars.  From the sparkle of each and every Swarovski crystal to the sensual lightning that caresses her slender porcelain frame to the vampy music that sets the mood for the procession of themed vignettes your eye cannot turn away from the utter flawlessness of it all."

Moreover, Face Magazine described that, "the 'Queen of Burlesque' has earned her crown, the righteous heir to performers like Sally Rand, who was famous in the 30's for her naked feather dance.  Dita has taken the tradition, studied it and made it her own."

Dita Von Teese is also famous and well known on her vintage style of fashion, makeup and beauty.  In her book 'Your Beauty Mark', Dita described her beauty secrets and advices.  These are some of her beauty secrets:

Dita Von Teese's Beauty Secrets

"Don't underestimate the cosmetic power of sunglasses.  It's worth spending a bit of money on a quality pair.  I usually go for Dior or Louis Vuitton."

"Matte lipstick is really the key to being able to wear it in real life and eat with it, and speak without getting lipstick on your teeth."

~
"If you wear lipstick through the day, I always say you have to wipe it all off and start over rather than reapply it on top of each other otherwise you get the crusty look and it's not pretty."

~
"Glamour is not about how young you are, or how rich you are, how pretty you are, what size you are, what ethnicity you are.  Everyone can become glamorous if they choose to put the time into it, and devote part of their selves to it."

~
"Natural beauty is held in such high regard, whereas what you decide for yourself or what you create is put down.  Whether it's wearing red lipstick or having some kind of procedure, we should all be able to respect each other's choices."

~
In general, it was sort of considered a form of etiquette that you didn't leave the house without your hair done and your face on; I like that part of it.  But there're so many easier ways to get glamorous now.  I think it's the general overall philosophy behind beauty.  You put your best face forward because it's the right thing to do when you leave the house."

~
"My daily beauty routine is really about skin care, a little bit of sunscreen, a sweep of face powder, red lipstick and my hair in a chignon.  I really like simplified looks.  I don't get in full power glamour everyday.  So I think it's good to have a routine that you can do quickly."

"I always loved Betty Grable, because I loved that era of film.  I thought her backup casts had great looks such as Carmen Miranda who was always in her films.  I also liked Rita Hayworth.  I like Technocolor, because I wanted to see the vibrant lipstick, the blush and the lashes all in color.  So I loved that 1940's Fox  musical era."
