MAYA ANGELOU: GODDESS OF WORDS
 
Maya Angelou was a goddess that walked on this earth.  She was born Marguerite Annie Johnson on April 4, 1928 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA.  She was a poet, civil rights activist, dancer, film and television producer, playwright, film director, author, actress, and professor.  A few of her famous books are "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings" and "On The Pulse Of Morning".  Most of her books are about racism, identity, family, and travel.  In 1993 during President Bill Clinton's inauguration, she recited her poem "On The Pulse Of Morning" making her the first poet to make an inaugural recitation since Robert Frost at President John F. Kennedy's inauguration in 1961.  She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011.  Maya Angelou died last May 28, 2014 at the aged of 86 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA.
