JENNIFER ANISTON

"I remember one of the photo shoots that I did for a magazine back  in the first year of 'Friends'.  Back in those days the photographer would just tell the hair and makeup artists what he wanted me to look like, and I was way too shy and intimidated to voice any opinion on the subject.  So the next thing I knew, I had bleach on my eyebrows, which then left me with white eyebrows.  A look that was gorgeous on Linda Evangelista in the '90s...On me?  Not so much."

JULIA ROBERTS

"Having my eyebrows viciously over plucked.  I can't even see a photo from 'Steel Magnolias' without feeling pain!"
~ ~ ~

JENNIFER LOPEZ

"I learned the hard way that applying self-tanner was anything but an individual task.  From my hands to my stomach to my toes, I never knew a body could have so many shades of bronze."
~ ~ ~

JENNIFER GARNER

"I heard about a fancy new double-barreled curling iron that created beautiful waves.  I decided to try it for a movie and it burned all of my hair in stripes around my head.  I had to cut my hair off, stripe by stripe, for the next year."
~ ~ ~

DREW BARRYMORE

"Going too blonde and it didn't work.  I felt like a yellow bird, I'm in a more natural phase."
~ ~ ~
JULIANNA MARGULIES

"I was once told that if you put mayonnaise in your hair, it would be very shiny and healthy-looking, so I thought I would give it a shot.  Turns out, getting mayo out of your hair isn't so easy.  I smelled like egg salad for days and looked like a greasy mess for a week!  Needless to say, I have left the mayo on my plate instead of my head!"

JULIANNE MOORE

"I ruined my eyebrows.  I started plucking them in the sixth grade because I didn't like how thick they were, and now they won't grow back.  I tell my daughter she is not allowed to touch hers.  Her eyebrows are perfect."

NICOLE KIDMAN

"I had a botched attempt at being a platinum blonde once.  My hair started to break off in my hands and it turned white.  It was terrible!  I'm meant to be a strawberry blonde...No Marilyn for me!"
~ ~ ~

KATIE HOLMES

"Well, I did try a juice cleanse...and I was at Chipotle by noon.  If that's not enough, I think the perm that I 'rocked' in grammar school was probably not my best look.  However, I felt really cool, and to me that is what beauty is all about - feeling great."

GWYNETH PALTROW

"I have had a few beauty misses over the years.  I did a sort of halfhearted crimp in my hair at the SAG awards one year.  I think my eyebrows were a bit over plucked in the '90s.  I was very into Drew Barrymore's look at the time, that sort of Betty Davis eyebrow and lip liner, but I don't think I pulled it off."

BLAKE LIVELY

"I matched my metallic eye shadow to my T-shirts in middle school.  The most popular girl in school,  Kelsey Rohr, did it, so of course everyone else had to try it.  Turns out only Kelsey could rock it.  She also looked great in orange Dickies....Damn her."
~ ~ ~

KERRY WASHINGTON

"I wore acrylics for a long time, but they made my nails very weak, and when I got pregnant, I was uncomfortable with the chemicals.  I like gels a lot better.  But I love press-ons.  I rock custom-made press-ons on the carpet often!"
~ ~ ~

KATE HUDSON

"I remember once when I attempted a facial self-tanner, and I ended up resembling Magda from 'There's Something About Mary'.  Let's just say from then on out I've stuck to bronzer!"
~ ~ ~

MINDY KALING

"I love that strong brows are so in right now, but when I've tried them on myself, it's a disaster.  I look like a cartoon henchman.  So I keep them natural, and when I want to make a statement, I'll do a bold lip color."
~ ~ ~

MILA KUNIS

"When I was 19, someone told me that if I washed my hair with beer, it would make it look shiny.  That was not the case at all!  All it did was make my hair smell like I was out partying from the night before."

She who looks long into all things,

GODDESS ODE TO SCENT

STOP AND SMELL THE ROSE LIP BALM:  ONE OF THE FEATURES IN "THE OPRAH MAGAZINE" ~ JULY 2013 ISSUE

"Research suggests that floral scents increase positive emotions."

Mandy Aftel, owner of Aftelier Perfumes offers up odes to five beloved blooms:

ROSES

"They can be spicy, vibrant and heady, or soft and sweet.  Smelling a rose is grounding ~ when crush a few petals in your hand; it calms the flows through your body."

MAGNOLIAS

"These have a fresh, clean scent that's a bit fruity and tart, with a crisp finish that's not as sweet or cloying as other flowers."

JASMINE

"It has a sweetness but also, because of a compound called indole - this is going to sound strange - a faintly rotten quality.  The combination is sexy and intense."

GARDENIAS

"Gardenias possess a heavy, rich undertone.  Picture the texture of cream ~ convert that to a scent and you'd land close to gardenias."

LAVENDER

"It smells bright, green, and tart, which makes in invigorating.  You will find that it perks you up and eases stress and tension."

GODDESS HUMOR

THE SPAGHETTI JOKE

For several years, a man in New York City had been  having an affair with an Italian woman.  One night, she confided to him that she was pregnant.  Not wanting to ruin his reputation or his marriage, he paid her a large sum of money if she would go back to Italy to secretly have the child.  Also, if she stayed in Italy to raise the child he would provide a child support until the child turned 18.

She agreed, but asked how he would know when the baby was born.  To keep it discrete, he told her to simply mail him a post card and write 'SPAGHETTI' on the back when the child was born.  He would then arrange for the child support payments to begin.

One day, about 8 months later, he came home to his confused wife.  "Honey" she said, you received a very strange postcard today."  "Oh, just give it to me and I'll explain it later",  he said.  The wife obeyed and watched as her husband read the card, turned white, and fainted.

On the card was written:

                                       SPAGHETTI, SPAGHETTI, SPAGHETTI
                                       TWO WITH MEATBALLS, ONE WITHOUT
                                       SEND EXTRA SAUCE!
